Weight Shift - Into The Ground

Oct 02 2009
Golf Tips
Release_Point.jpg

Remember that this is a Downstroke (Down is the key word) therefore your weight must go Down into the ground.

DO NOT swing forward as you Start-Down (8-7). You are not moving your weight directly from the right side to the left side as you Start-Down.

The Golf Stroke is a smooth three dimentional motion, Backwards, Upwards and Inwards and then Downwards, Outwards and Forwards, and on Plane.

As you PUSH your weight into the ground your weight will move in the correct manner.

This is such an important part of the golf stroke and many players make an incorrect move simply by not understanding what is required.

We will use Force Plates to describe the direction of the Pressure and when it is being Increased and/or Decreased throughout the stroke.

It will soon become apparent as you view the diagrams that follow. The image to your right is at Release Point (8-9)

Any real student of the game of golf in Melbourne town should have heard the name John Furze in the field of coaching.

I\\\'m an old guy who has had great pleasure getting into the Furze mould over the past seven years.

How can he possibly retain his sense of humour I am darned if I know.

Seven years I hear you say, well in that time that anchor around the neck has reduced from 24 to currently 15 which prompts the question, is this guy any good at his craft?

Hi John,

I just wanted to send you a quick message to congratulate you on the development of your program.

I have completed GSEB Level 1 and will be sitting my GSEB Level 2 at the end of the month, so if all goes well I will be an Authorized Instructor in The Golfing Machine.

I have not seen the principles of TGM explained with such clarity and structure from any other source on the web (outside of the TGM website itself) so well done!

John,

Many thanks for all of the time and effort that you have put in over the last five years as my golf coach.

Not only do you have a remarkable knowledge of the golf swing, but you have a unique ability to impart that knowledge in a way that is easy to understand and to apply in practice.

Your positive outlook and enthusiasm for the game are second to none, making each lesson enjoyable.
